WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT VILLA SUMAYA...’ll find yourself by the beautiful shores of Lake Atitlan and the three majestic volcanoes surrounding the landscape. In Sanskirt “Sumaya” means long awaited dream come true and you will finally be able to take a cleansing breath of fresh tropical air into your lungs to prepare yourself for the upcoming week that is all about YOU.

You’ll be greeted by the beautiful faces of the staff and a freshly chilled coconut to start off your week of pampering. Surrounded by the like-minded community staying at the retreat center you will have an opportunity to get to know one another and get comfortable in your room equipped with a private balcony and hammock overlooking the lush landscape. That evening the retreat officially starts and we commune together over a locally grown and fresh buffet of fruits, vegetables, and other delicious treats. Throughout the week you’ll experience new foods, cultures, and dive deeper into the quiet, restful place of Villa Sumaya.

Laura and Stacy have created space and support for you to connect within yourself through yoga postures, meditation practices, meaningful coaching sessions, and reiki healing sessions that feel supportive to your process and journey.

This is a magical time, unlike any other where you can nourish and tend to your own needs and desires to help create lasting change for your life and a deeper sense of peace. Our intention is that when you leave Guatemala, you take a piece of this experience and growth with you wherever you go and create a life that is an awaited dream come true.

Journey home to your heart with Xicoy, the Cacao Spirit, one of the most playful spiritual guides in ancient Mayan cosmology.  The Mayans have used Cacao in ceremony for thousands of years to connect with their hearts. We invite you to do the same in this 2-3 hour Cacao Ceremony steeped in ritual and reflective heart circle meditation. Be warned: your heart will expand beyond your imagination leading to pure bliss, laughter and joy allowing for more of who you are to shine.

The Eco-Sumaya tour is a guided walk up the hill and through the Villa Sumaya Food Forest, their vegetable production in Guicholandia, and herb gardens. Explore Sumaya’s beautiful grounds and gardens and learn about their current sustainability projects. The tour ends with a small snack that was grown and produced on site.

The Sweat Lodge is a traditional Chichimeca purification ceremony. This purifying ceremony includes ritualized practices and heart-centered connection with Great Spirit. Experience our handcrafted lodge, heated with hot stones and medicinal plants to induce profuse sweating. You'll share sacred songs to open the heart while plant spirits and specially prepared herbal tea help clear and lift the emotional body. This revitalizing sauna circle will leave you feeling inspired and rejuvenated.

Visit one of Guatemala’s most famous marketplaces, known for its colorfully and brightly dressed Quiche Maya. Starting with a short boat ride to Pana, you will be picked up by a private van and drive for an hour through the stronghold of the Maya, passing through fertile countryside. In Chichi, browse through the marketplace for handicrafts, candles, flowers and incense. This is the place to find that special keepsake or simply enjoy the action of this highland town on market day.

Stacy and Laura met at a wellness retreat in Bali. They were roommates and instantly connected due to their nervousness about adventure as well as their desire for true change and growth in their lives. Being roommates they quickly learned that they were both introverts and found themselves sneaking up to their room in the evenings just to relax and unwind but ultimately talking the night away about genuine changes they wanted in their lives and healing that was occurring on the trip. Stacy and Laura knew they were soul sisters and can’t wait to share their love and passions with all of the participants coming to Guatemala.

Stacy has been an avid yogi since 2001, when her practice to quiet her mind began. In order to get a better understanding of the physical postures, she joined teacher training in 2008 and promptly announced during introductions that she had “no interest in teaching yoga” - thousands of hours, and hundreds of students later, she is a 500 hour E-RYT. Her passion lies in guiding “baby teachers” to their full potential and certification as Registered Yoga Teachers. She is also a certified life coach and gains inspiration by working one-on-one with women facing life shifts. Her services include having an ear to listen, hand to hold, or occasional nudge to move forward with major life changes, using the tools of yoga as a foundation.

In her spare time, Stacy enjoys “being the change” by supporting local businesses and volunteering on political campaigns. She is also on her own journey, having just downsized her home and her corporate career - giving her the opportunity to travel the world and host yoga retreats! Spending quality time with fun friends and focusing on her life purpose (building a yoga/coaching business and figuring out what lies beyond Game of Thrones) are at the forefront for Stacy now.
